retro time

Well, today I felt to be a bit retro in my gaming. I would definitely be pulling out my PS1 and popping in FF7 _IF_ I had a PS1 that still worked ... I'd then think "oh let's just pull out that PS3 and download it" ... oh wait, I don't have a ps3 LOL (anyone wanna buy me one?). So, then I'd try to play it on the PC as I do have it on my computer... no wait, can't do that for the fried PSU.

DAMN!!

So, where else can I get it? oh yes, on my PSP. Yes I do have one of them, but there's the slight problem of not having a big enough memory card on it to grab it of the play station store.

Well, I'd re-find it and load it up on this little net-book here, but that would take half of forever. If only the Wii had it in their downloads. I did however get FF1 on my Wii, along with Blaster Master, and (while not as retro as those two) Super Metroid. So that's what I was going to go do today... up until the kids wanted to watch some movies.

So here I sit on this little Net-book here looking through different flash games on kongregate, and other miscellaneous flash gaming sites. I'd love to be able to play Fantasy Earth Zero, but it requires at least a 3 ghz processor, and this thing's got about half that LOL.

Well, after this movie's over on the TV, I'll pop on the Wii and play some FF1, perhaps challenge m'self with an all RDM party with no deaths? All the while, I'll probably just stick in the FF7 soundtrack.

It starts

So, after being on the net for SO many years, I've finally decided to start a blog. Why? I dunno, possibly to have some kind of structure or regularity to my life, or maybe just to finally have a place to ramble on.

Well, I kind of decided to go over (hopefully) what I've played or whatever during the day. No real personal stuff unless it of course pertains to the gaming, or my computer I suppose.

Let's start this off with a bit of info. If don't know me, welcome...I'm an ex-military computer geek that has always been into gaming and working on computers. After getting out of the military I was found to have multiple disabilities that have me pretty much confined to my home and mainly of course, my chair. Over the last 5 years I've been attempting to get a job, but no-one seems to want to hire around here anymore.

What I usually play are some kind of MMORPG's ... currently with my financial situation, it's limited to free to play MMO's. But if you want to see some info of what I've played, visit my xfire profile and check it out. I'm not sure if anything will top my time logged into Final Fantasy XI.

Right now I have been playing quite a lot of Fantasy Earth Zero. A MMO that was created originally by SE and distributed through their playonline service that hosts the FFXI game. But apparently seeing as it was originally also a pay to play game, not many people took up on it, especially with how simple it was compared to FFXI. FEZ is now run by another company and follows the free to play with cash shop options.

I also play a few different FPS games. Mainly currently I have been waiting on Natural Selection 2 to come out. While waiting for it, I'm playing the original version, which is a mod for the original Half-Life engine. I also play Team Fortress 2 and of course classic from times to times.

Unfortunately though, I have been having a small problem.. that of my power supply on my computer. Just this past Sunday, lightning struck near the house, and took out the cable TV box, and also (hopefully just) my power supply to my desktop. Luckily I've also got this litte netbook to use in the mean time. What sucks with this, is that I'm pretty much limited to very simple games with it. I have contacted APC (battery backup/surge protector company) and they're sending me a new battery backup and some paperwork I've gotta fill out so that they'll re-imburse me for whatever part(s) I have to replace on my computer. Of course, that means I have to find the money to shell out to get the parts first though -.-

Well, I'll post some more later possibly, if not, well, then tomorrow.
